Windows & Siding: Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some answers to frequently-asked questions we receive about windows & siding installation or replacement:

Top Windows Replacement FAQs

The “why” is easy – replacing your windows is a great way to make your home brighter, safer, and more energy efficient. When should you replace windows? If you see obvious cracks or breaks, then your windows certainly need replacing. Other factors to look for include moisture inside your panes, noticeable gaps around windows, drafts, and rising heating and air costs.
You don’t need to do a lot of work ahead of time – we’ll take care of everything that needs taking care of to do the job right! However, you could save a little time by going ahead and taking down any curtains and blinds, and just making sure we have easy access to your windows, both inside and out.
It really depends on the size of your home, what type of windows you have, and how many windows we’ll be replacing. Having said that, though, most installation replacement jobs can be completed in a single day.
We can install most windows from the outside, so we won’t really have to do much inside your home. The old windows are removed, the new windows are inserted and secured, we’ll apply the correct insulation and sealing, and then we’ll take care of any needed or specified interior finishing work.
The answer to this question is not entirely different from the answer to question #3 above. The specific cost of your particular window replacement project will depend on several factors, including the size and age of your home, the materials and products you choose, the dimensions and style of your windows, and the number of windows there are to install or replace. We also have preferred financing options to help you be able to afford the windows you need!

Top Siding Replacement And Installation FAQs

In a single word … absolutely! Ineffective, damaged, or just plain old siding is costing you money in heating and cooling, it’s allowing moisture to infiltrate to your walls and interior, it may be giving pests access to your home, and it’s just hurting the overall curb appeal and value of your home. Allowing us to replace your siding with a quality product can help address each of these needs, and more!
When it comes to deciding when your siding needs replacing, here are a few telltale signs to look for. Check for things like warped or rotted siding, bubbles forming underneath, loose or cracked siding, holes in your siding, faded siding, higher humidity levels in your home, and rising heating and air costs.
Unfortunately, there’s no single answer to this question that applies to every circumstance. It really depends on the style, design, and age of your home, the type of siding material you prefer, the features you need, the look you want, and what your budget is for siding replacement. The good news is that Skywalker only uses premium-quality siding products, and all of the siding types we install are made to last!
No you don’t! The right type of siding can help you drastically reduce the frequency that your house needs painting, and certain types of siding (like vinyl) never need painting at all! This is one way that replacing your siding actually helps save you time and money in the long run.
It depends somewhat on a few factors, including the size of your home and the type of siding you’ve chosen and its particular installation requirements. Usually we can complete a siding installation/replacement in just a day or two, but bigger jobs can sometimes take a little longer.
